Riverlife is a group of individuals appointed in 1999 to develop a master plan for our city’s most valuable asset—its rivers and their miles of shorelines. But we are more than that. We are advocates of a vision.
We don’t just see three rivers. We see a precious opportunity. An opportunity to create something new. To transform our three rivers into a dramatic and spectacular urban setting unlike anywhere else in the world.
We don’t just see obstacles. We see breathtaking views, stunning architecture and miles of waterfront at our fingertips. We see riverfront parks, trails and commercial spaces bustling with activity. We see an icon that people all around the world will immediately recognize as the great city of Pittsburgh.
Ultimately, we see Three Rivers Park.
It won’t be easy. But Pittsburghers never shy away from a challenge.
Our mission is simple: To reclaim, restore and promote Pittsburgh’s riverfronts, as an environmental, recreational, cultural and economic hub for the people of this region and our visitors.
There are three ways Riverlife is accomplishing this great task:
- By developing core capital projects and acting as the driving force behind them.
- By supporting other capital projects that are sponsored by public and private partners.
- By advocating for high quality design, environmental preservation, and other issues that affect the park’s development.
Three Rivers Park is becoming the region’s signature attraction. The journey to reach our goals will be a long-term effort. But the progress is brisk, and everyone at Riverlife is committed to seeing it through.
